well, today's a day

I've only been awake for two hours and have already cried into my breakfast because of a post a friend of mine made on Facebook where he talked about how he's been feeling for the past few months, and we're essentially experiencing the same things (heightened anxiety, jealousy/anger at people just ignoring safe protocols to spend time with people outside their house/pretending things are normal, generally a hot mess). I just want to go hug him and tell him he's not alone, but he's in freakin' Kentucky and I'm in Indiana and there's a pandemic raging on, soooo...

Yeah. I don't think today's going to be a good day.

New Years Resolutions

My resolutions for 2010...

- Work out 2/3 times a week. I need to get healthy.
- Track what I'm eating, how much of it, so on and so on. I need to eat better.
- Get my depression under control.
- Write in here once a day. Writing is good therapy, and I also want to get more in the habit of writing. I've been a bit of a failure at my fiction journal. Maybe I'll set aside one day a week for stories.
-Try and make more friends, or at least be more social with the friends I do have. I know, it's kind-of cheating on this one considering I'm living with one of my best friends, but I do have other friends that I hardly talk to. I need to get out of my comfort zone, and get better.
- Get a job. This one needs no explanation.

I'm going to make these my goals to work on for the new year. I'm going to take this time to myself I've been given and try and make something constructive out of it.

comments

A wonderful day!

I got a lot done today. Yay! In the morning I cleaned, and worked on cleaning up the Mint Chocolate Chip Mobile, since it's back in our possession again. I got a lot of crud out of the rug, and febreezed the chairs. Bryan and I used some car cleaning wipes to clean up the dashboard and doors, and it looks a lot better now. We also bought a new vacuum cleaner, a bagless one, and HOLY CRAP I can't believe the amount of crud it sucked out of our carpet! When I finish cleaning tomorrow, I'm going to vacuum every bit of carpet in the house and see how much crud comes up.

After my insane whirlwind of cleaning, I went over to Amanda and Romeyn's to watch TV and stuff, and I had lots of fun. Their kitties are so sweet! :D Amanda's socially awkward like I am, so I don't feel so weird around her, trying to be normal. We had a lot of fun, and I think we might make this a more regular thing. :D

Now I'm home, with goodies- Romeyn gave me his extra copy of the Xanadu soundtrack on vinyl, and Amanda gave me her extra copies of Firefly and Serenity. (I know what I'm watching while I clean and punch embroider tomorrow!) Dunno what I'm going to do now, but oh well.

Oh! Almost forgot! Welcome to my new to DW friends, littleandy and stars_of_avalon! Both are friends of mine from LJ who wanted to see what it's like over here. I hope you guys enjoy it here!

comments

Why yes, I am still alive.

Not like the Twitter updates didn't tell you that, but yes, I am here, sneaking on at work since there's literally nothing for me to do for another hour or so. Ah well. I'll deal with it.

I made a new friend! Her name's Amanda, she just got hired at Financial Aid as a counselor, and she's married to my old boss Romeyn. She's not much older than me, which is nice- just about everyone I know is either a lot older than me (especially in the office), or a lot younger (especially in the Elementary MST program). She likes geeky things, and we were in the same clubs in college! (She was just in them earlier.) It's so nice to have a friend who appreciates my geekiness. Elizabeth, my other new friend, is alright with me being a dork, but she's not as bad as I am - she's actually pretty normal in comparison.

I should probably hop off DW before someone catches me. :O

comments

Today was good!

I went in to 'observe' Mrs. Burnett's 2nd grade class, for the second-to-last time. I'm really going to miss those kids- Sidney gave me a big hug today when Mrs. Burnett said I was going to lead Spelling Bingo. They were generally pretty happy today, which is good. They even earned extra recess! I'm sad that next Monday will be my last observation day. I'll get to see the kids around the school, but it won't be the same - they'll be grown up 3rd graders.

Brittany and I drove home with the windows down and music blasting. I can't wait until I get my own car and I can have stuff like Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen blasting out my windows. I get the feeling Brittany only tolerates me because I need a ride, and I feel bad for needing a ride. I just wish we could be friends. I don't have many friends anymore, let alone friends in grad school.

The 15 minutes I spent outside today burnt my face a bit. Time to break out the sunscreen and hats again.

comments
