New Year

Well, it's a new year.

I get the feeling it may not be the greatest, but then again, only the first 40 or so minutes were awkward, so maybe that was the worst of 2010. One can hope, right?

Moved some stuff over to Kit's yesterday, and got my bed set up so I can sleep there tomorrow night when I am finished pet sitting. We went out to dinner at 1844 House - we had reservations for 8:45 pm but got there a little early. When we did get seated, it took over an hour for our food to make it there. It was okay, though- I had fun talking with Kit, Morgan, and William. Then, after that, Morgan and I went to La Casbah and I ran into one of my old professors there. Morgan ran into his ex wife. It was reeeally awkward for me. There were a bunch of college kids there dancing and drinking, and a bunch of older people expecting live music and getting a DJ, and then there was me, in my cute pink coat, nursing an amaretto sour. Yeah.

I was actually pretty glad to go home, drink some water, and go to sleep.

At least the dogs were relatively quiet last night, and I probably could have slept in later than I did, but the doggies needed to be fed, so here I am.

I might go back to bed, though. Not sure. I think today is going to be one of those days.

Ooops.

Forgot to post yesterday. However, I actually *gasp* did stuff yesterday, so I guess that makes up for it, right?

Met Morgan the other day, on Monday night. He's a riot. I really like him. I can see how he's related to Kit! :D We sat around and drank wine on Monday night, and talked a lot. Yesterday, he and Kit came by to take me out to breakfast, and we ate at Foxy Roxy's. After breakfast, we all went back to Kit's (which will soon be my place, too, she's moving me into the extra bedroom) and we watched Dexter for a few hours. Then we came back here and watched Dexter some more while keeping the dogs company. At around 4, we headed back to Kit's - and just in time, too, since William (Morgan's son) had just gotten home from a trip. (And he didn't know Morgan was here, either.) So, he got a nice surprise. We all hung out together at Kit's for a bit, then I ran back here to feed the doggies. Then we all went out for dinner at Maxfield's - a very nice treat. Then, after that, I got dropped off here, and spent the rest of the night with the poms and the cats watching Lifetime movies.

And now here I am, about to take a bath, listening to the Princess and the Frog soundtrack. :D

Apparently the pomeranians decided that an hour and a half of a nap was more than enough, and decided that now I was to be their personal jungle gym. Yeesh.

Before that, though, I got woken up from my nap by Pounce - while he's a sweet cat, he's not usually terribly cuddly. But not even 20 minutes ago, he decided my hip was a perfect place to cuddle. I was afraid he'd fall off, so I rolled over and he rolled into my lap, and then he snuggled. And I mean snuggled. He pushed up against me, and headbutted into my chin, and purred for all he's worth. That was so damn cute.

Other than that, not much has gone on today. Took a walk and started on my 200 situps journey. I did fifty today.

I think my big Christmas present this year was the pomeranians letting me sleep in until 8 this morning. Which is honestly quite amazing, considering I wasn't sleeping with them (last night I slept in the attic, while the other nights I slept in the guest room so the pets could climb in with me), and they usually wake me up at 5 am when I do sleep with them. Ahh, it was nice to get to sleep in.

Last night was fun- I went on Skype with Bryan and watched him butter the turkey - it's almost like I was there, which was nice. I also watched just about every Rankin/Bass claymation Christmas special in existence, too. I called my mom, and we talked for a little bit.

Today, I might go out to lunch with Kit - I'll know for sure if she calls me. Other than that, it's just me, the pomeranians, the cats, and A Christmas Story. :P

(And apparently my nephew Logan on Facebook. :D )

Or happy holiday of your preference. While I may not exactly be religious, Christmas is still what comes to mind for my winter holiday. I try to be as politically correct as I can, and wish people happy holidays, since there are so many holidays celebrated at this time of year.

Anyhow! I was woken up at 6:40 this morning by my little furry friends, and of course they woke me up early after I went to bed late last night.

And holy crap, last night I was popular. It's like everyone wanted to talk to me, all at once, and it was all people I haven't talked to in ages - like my ex, Gregg, who I literally haven't talked to since shortly after we broke up in 2004. And Dean, who drifted out of contact back in 2007. And Jason, who I haven't even SEEN since 2003. And Ken, who I saw on Tuesday! :D I haven't talked with that many people online all at once in a very long time. It was almost overwhelming. Jason wants me to go to Plattsburgh and hang out with him for a few days - I just may do that. We'll have a Doctor Who marathon, and when we get sick of Doctor Who (heaven forbid), we'll watch Torchwood and Sarah Jane adventures. :D It'll be so awesome to go hang out somewhere other than Potsdam, I think, and it'll be nice to see Jason again. I might even get to see Justin, too!

It's odd, spending Christmas alone this year. It doesn't really feel like Christmas this year, anyway... It's just been a rough year, I guess. I anticipate that I'll be spending my holiday watching Christmas shows, keeping the Pomeranians entertained, and wishing I was 14 again, where not only did I still get Christmas presents, I got the Nintendo 64. And the Sega Channel. Oh, now that was a Christmas.

So, the dogs woke me up at 5 am to go potty. They sorta fell back asleep, but then Bryan woke up (he spent the night last night) shortly afterward, so he went downstairs with the doggies. He let me sleep in until 8, which was nice. I like sleep. I woke up feeling pretty cruddy, but now that I've got some coffee in me, I'm feeling better.

Yesterday, Bryan and I did a little running around - I cashed my Christmas check from my dad, we did a little shopping, and I fed Tara's cats- I'm amazed they haven't set the house on fire yet. I'm fully expecting to go home one day this week and find the Christmas tree knocked over and Shadow napping in the middle of the mess. We also went to Massena, and I ran into my friend Ken there. We geeked out over manga and comics in the bookstore - it was good. :D I bought the giant book of Azumanga Daioh, and also picked up an electric blanket for when I go back home.

Alright, I should probably go wake up Bryan - he went to go take a nap, and told me to wake him up at 10.

*rubs eyes blearily* wha... Is it really 7:48 am?

Wow. I haven't seen 7 am since student teaching.

Ah well, pomeranians are a much better excuse to get up this early.

Anyway, I do happen to have a cup of coffee next to me, so this may be the reinstatement of Morning Coffee Updates! (for my Dreamwidth buddies, Morning Coffee Updates are updates I make in the morning while drinking a cup of delicious, delicious coffee.) Granted, I'm not in my own house, or even drinking coffee out of one of my Tinkerbell mugs, but the coffee was made with my coffee maker! (Yes, I dragged it over here.) Anyway, last night was good, even if I couldn't get to sleep last night. I think it was because I was sleeping in someplace different. Leo cuddled at my feet early in the night, and then Kaya and even Smokey the Cat joined in. Athena, another of the cats, kept wandering in to check on me, which I thought was sweet. I may not be a big cat fan, but I do love Athena. Nobody woke me up by barking this morning - instead, I got kisses from Kaya. (However, once I got up and out of bed, then the barking started. Now everyone's quiet again, though. Good puppies.)

I think the cold I caught last week is on it's way out- I feel a bit less stuffy, and my sinuses don't feel so gross. I'm a little wheezy, but it could be because my lungs aren't used to these cats.

Other than that, I've got nothing.
