what happened to spring?

Seriously, Mother Nature, what happened to spring? We had a week or two of it, then WINTER, for crying out loud, and then it got to 80 this weekend! And right now, not even 8 in the morning, it's 70 degrees outside. And raining. Which I'm not complaining about now, since it's so warm out. The smell of rain makes me seriously nostalgic. It smells like living out in the backyard in a tent, like leading a bunch of kids through the woods and getting soaking wet. Like growing things, like flowers and trees.
I remember when I was a teenager, an older teen, and finally allowed to have free run of the dirt road through the woods, to a certain point. (I think it was the entrance to the dirt pits, not sure.) It was raining out, and really hot, and I decided to go for a bike ride through every mud puddle I could find. I rode through little puddles, big puddles, long ones, any puddle I could find. I ended up muddy and soaked through all my clothes, and I loved it. I laughed as I went through the big puddles. By the time I got home, I vaguely resembled a drowned rat. My mom was not pleased when I came in the house saying "I need a change of clothes and a shower!" She asked what the heck I had been up to, and I told her I was just riding my bike. Which wasn't far from the truth. :D
