Edit: HAHAHA, I am a durr. I went to see if I could just show this to people who subscribe to me, just in case my younger sister stumbles across this (I'm so paranoid!), and I accidentally ended up deleting the entry. Oi vey. Let's try this again.

I figure my family is a good place to start the detailed entries. My issues and experiences with my family have contributed a lot to who I am, and I think it might be good for everyone to know where I'm coming from. (Also, for those of you who enjoy trainwrecks, this is for you - my family is so fucked up it's ridiculous.)

Whenever anyone asks me about my family, I generally say it's just me, my mom, and my younger sister, especially if it's just a casual acquaintance or someone I just don't want to explain things to. However, my family is a lot more complicated than that. I do have a father, he just doesn't act like one unless he really wants to. Since long before I was born, my father was married to another woman, and had told my mom for years that he was going to divorce his wife and marry her. However, I think he told that to lots of other women, since Mom is still unmarried and now grown children. He didn't play much of a role in my childhood, and still doesn't play much of a role in my life.

My mom has been dealing with depression for most of her life, and it went untreated until recently, which made for some rocky teenage and early college years. I got kicked out of the house at 17, and went to live with the guy I was dating at the time, Joe. However, he turned out to be a real jerk, and I moved back home for the summer before college. (Not that I was really home all that often, since I worked at summer camp all summer long.) When jerky high school boyfriend Joe entered my life again, and offered me a place to stay when I was 21, I stupidly took him up on it, and he... well, we'll get into that in another entry. Let's just say I ended up in a women's shelter. My mom was a big fan of Joe, and she never believed me when I told her he hit me back in high school (despite the bruise on my back!), and when I told her about what he did and how I was staying at the shelter, she FREAKED, told me to apologize to Joe, told me that I was asking for what I got, and that I needed to move back in with him. Needless to say, we didn't talk for a long time after that. We're on better terms now - there's certain subjects I tend to avoid when talking to her, but other than that things are fine.

I mentioned earlier that I generally say I have one sister, a younger one. I actually have two sisters, but my older sister, Johanna, was raised by my aunt Connie, and I didn't find out Johanna was my sister and not my cousin until I was 12. (Johanna didn't find out until she was twice that!) Johanna entering our lives, back when I was in high school, threw things all out of whack. I had a case of middle child syndrome that was really horrible, especially because I was used to being the oldest. It's much easier when there's two kids, an older and a younger- nobody really gets left out. However, whenever Jo came over, she'd dump Logan, my nephew, in my lap and then run and play with Mom and Ruth, my younger sister. Everyone complained about Logan, but all I think he needed was a little attention. (Jo just locked him in his room when she got mad at him.) After her husband tried to hit on me, and told me "I've wanted to fuck you ever since I first saw you", I just stopped talking to her. I wanted a big sister, but not if her husband was going to make a move on me.

I literally just found Jo on Facebook, by the way. I just requested to be her friend. We'll see how that goes. I honestly doubt it will go anywhere. My nephews are so grown up...

Ruthie's a pain in the ass, that's all. She likes to get things her way, and likes to be the center of attention, and hates doing any real work. She feels that if Pop gives me something, he has to give it to her too, and if he's thinking of giving me something better than she has, then OMG THAT CAN'T HAPPEN. She only talks to me when she wants something, or when she wants to bitch about Mom.

That's pretty much it about my family, unless you want to count furry family additions. If that's the case, I have two furry little brothers, Cocker Spaniels named Aubi and Levon. They are the best behaved dogs ever, even if they are afraid of everything.

You're not paranoid. :)

That's quite the family there. You know what they say.. you can't choose your relatives. At least you can choose your friends.
